August 2020

It’s getting easier but no reason to relax your guard at present.

After a false start on 5th July, due to Andrew’s illness, the Half Moon opened for the afternoon of 26 July and provided an excellent Sunday Lunch.

Here are the new opening hours.
Booking for food is essential either via Facebook or by calling 01963 370140
Friday 6-11pm
Saturday 6-11pm
Sunday 12-5pm – food served 12-2pm
Tuesday 6-10pm – food served 7-9pm
Every Tuesday in August is Steak Night!

With Eat Out To Help Out, 2 x 10oz Rump steaks with all the trimmings for just £15!

The White Horse has been fully open from the 4th July and seems to be doing good trade, providing food and drink every day but closed for lunch on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday

Back by popular demand, Sunday 9th August sees a return of the quiz at the White Horse: maximum 5 per team, £1 per person, winning team takes all. Tables inside and out to allow for distancing, covered outside if wet, best to call and book a table. 7.30ish arrival for a 7.45 start. Come and test those little grey cells.

South Cheriton Garage is open for business. Book your car in for repair, service or MOT on 370179.

The Village Hall has opened for some users.  If you would like to make a booking speak with John Macdonald on 370444.

Otherwise nothing much has changed.  Remain alert

July 2020

Pubs

Good news is that the Half Moon will be opening for drinks only on Sunday 5th July from 12 noon until 5pm and then on Friday and Saturday nights from 6-11pm. It won’t be quite back to normal as there will be one way systems and you won’t be able to prop up the bar but, at least, you’ll be able to get a decent pint of draught ale.  Use it or lose it.

Even better news is that the White Horse at South Cheriton will be opening from midday on Saturday 4th for both food and drink.  Thereafter on Friday and Saturday, Andy and Justine will be open all day from noon until 11pm serving food from 12 to 2.30pm and 6 -9pm. On Sunday they will be open from noon to 11 but food from 12-2.30pm only.  From Monday to Thursday they will be open from 5-11pm, serving food from 6-9pm.  Again there will be rules to follow until further notice and, as in life generally, be sensible to the situation and other people.
