It is understood that Somerset agreed to retain these. It has been in the news recently that they are being refurbished on Exmoor! Charlton Horethorn are attending to theirs by local volunteers.
What is the situation? They are part of our heritage and having been retained instead of the dreadful enamel things which may be easier to read but !!!!
I would be happy to clean of and repaint with Hammerite. There is only one at the top of Stowell Lane.
